A MAN ripped a timetable panel off a bus shelter and used it to smash four panes of glass so he could get arrested as he had nowhere to spend the night after leaving prison, Southampton Crown Court was told.

Dalvydas Milvydas, 21, told police he would do it again if he was released, adding that he wanted to be deported but couldn’t leave because they had custody of his passport.

Milvydas, a Lithuanian national of no fixed address, admitted causing £300 worth of damage to the shelter in Above Bar.

Admitting he was in breach of a suspended sentence for another offence of criminal damage, he was jailed for a total of seven months and two weeks.
